Soccer: Verona stand closed for two games for racist chants
Serie A's sporting judge said Sunday that the Curva Sud stand of Hellas Verona's Bentegodi stadium will be closed for the next two home games due to racist chants by fans during the side's 2-0 win over Cagliari on Saturday.
The move related to abuse directed at Congolese midfielder Antoine Makoumbou, when he was sent off for a second yellow card shortly after half-time.
Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri complained about the racist chants after the game and called on the authorities to take action.
